Mangawhai Central development

ChanceryGreen is supporting Ian Gordon (Barrister) to progress the Mangawhai Central development. This is a large-scale mixed use development of a 128ha site in Mangawhai, a coastal settlement north of Auckland. The proposed development includes a town centre/main street with a range of retail (including a supermarket) and commercial and other services; a business (service/industrial) area; and a range of recreation facilities and ecological enhancements/green spaces throughout the site. Additionally, the development proposes to deliver some 1,000 residential dwellings, including a retirement village, providing a range of housing options catering for a range of lifestyles.

Steve Mutch and Ebony Ellis assisted in successfully obtaining resource consents for the supermarket and town centre aspect of the development (following a Council hearing in mid-2020), and for the service area and other development aspects. ChanceryGreen is providing ongoing assistance in relation to a comprehensive plan change for the development - the Council decided to approve the plan change request in 2021, and several Environment Court appeals were lodged. The ChanceryGreen team has been heavily involved in the Environment Court appeals process, including coordinating experts in a variety of fields to prepare evidence and attending several mediation sessions. A decision on the plan change is expected to be issued by the Environment Court imminently.
